Throwback Thursday folks! The lovely rainy days of December (thank god!) made us look back to the sunny days  - October Sunny days specifically. Last October, several Rotarians, Rotaractors and Interactors joined the Italian Festival Parade. The Rotary group marched with the flags of the world to represent the diversity in the Rotary organization while following a decorated a cable car just to add a San Francisco touch to the whole ensemble.

It was a nice event to meet our new members.
Meet Sam! Our totally adorbs secretary.
New club. New BANNER.
Kianna and David. Instant BFFs.
New club. New friends.
Cheyenne, David and our adopted Interactor of the day, Ryan.

The Blue Angels and a host of other Embarcadero attractions wowed the crowd that day and even our flag bearing group couldn't help but admire the people, the community and festivities of that day.

Sunny days may be gone for awhile (a good thing folks) but we've got the whole Italian Festival experience for everyone to check out during these coming rainy days.

Till then!

First Volunteering Event of Rotaract @ SFSU History!

Today was the first volunteering event that we participated in, and it was a fun and exciting one. We had the greatest opportunity to volunteer at the Exploratorium.
The early morning started off pretty well. We met up at the Embarcadero Bart Station, and everyone received their very first Rotaract pins!
When we arrived at the Exploratorium, we met with the Exploratorium program coordinator, Crystal. She helped us get settled in, and assigned specific roles. Four of the Rotaractors went on an exploration expedition around the Exploratorium. The other four Rotaractors helped with registration attendees into the conference. The Exploratorium was hosting a STEM conference specifically for science and art teachers.
During lunch, we assisted with directing where people can get their lunch boxes. Some of us ate our lunches first, and the other half the people ate hidden an aisle of books! Duy, a fellow Rotaractor, discovered this cool spot that faces out into the Exploratorium.
At the end of lunch, we finished our volunteering obligations at the Exploratorium and we were free to roam around the area. We decided to walk around and find interesting exhibits. One of the most interesting exhibits was circular, and push pushed with force steam blows out. Another fun exhibit was the one where different hues of color were reflected in the background as you moved.

Interact District 5150 Fall Leadership Conference on the Roll!

Interact District 5150's Fall Leadership Conference is less than a week away and Rotaract is buckling down for the workshop that it will be hosting for FLC.
This year's theme revolves around individual discovery and group coordination and Rotaract was more than happy to put our two cents on the topic.
The Fall Leadership Conference is also a good opportunity to spread the word about Rotaract 's programs for interactors in district 5150. The Interact Mentorship Program for instance, aims to expand the leadership tool box of interactors through workshops and supplementary club advising.  On the other hand,  the Interact Internship program recruits an Interact club and takes 10 interns from this club. The interns will be helping the Rotaract club with the mentorship program while participating in other Rotaract events in the city.

Both programs are aimed in developing young leaders and this investment will be realized not only  through the achievements of the club as a whole but also the changed leaders that get acquainted with the Rotary Club.
