04/18/2015 Friends of the Urban Forest

Time: 9am-2pm

But all volunteers meet up at 7:30am at the SFSU soccer field!!

If one of your ideas of fun is being surrounded by nature, then you're in luck! We will be collaborating with Friends of the Urban Forest and help plant trees in the Outer Sunset district!

04/19/2015 SFSU's Annual 5K Walk, Run, & Roll

Time: 8am

Location: Malcolm X plaza - Quad

Next weekend, SFSU will be hosting their annual 5K run! Come join us in volunteering for this active event!

FIRST ROTARACT GAME NIGHT!

Hello! So as all of you know, last Thursday night we had our very first game night/fundrasier with Cards Against Humanity for the Janet Pomeroy prom!

Officially we started at 6 pm, with people entering, signing in, and making name tags. We entertained our guests with ice breakers, such as "I love my neighbor who...", "Two truths and a lie", and "Never Have I Ever".

We then proceeded to start a presentation, informing our members, and newcomers of Rotaract, what we do, and our upcoming events. We also informed everyone that this is a fundraiser for a good cause, and we would be very grateful if anyone could spare change of any kind! After explaining the mechanics of Cards Against Humanity, we then began the games!

Eventually we headed with the final round, with three finalists left: Arissa, Jennifer, and Patrick and playing with our co-presidents Kianna and Nicole, and member Alan. In the end, our new member Patrick took home the championship and the prize, a free membership! We ended the night with a group picture!

Pomeroy Recreation & Rehibiliation Center

What's up guys! So as all of you lovely people know, Rotaract supports many different causes, with one of them being Janet Pomeroy and The Pomeroy Recreation and Rehabilitation Center. To state their goal:

"The mission of Pomeroy Recreation and Rehabilitation Center is to provide recreational, vocational and educational opportunities for people with disabilities through programs and services that encourage self-expression, promote personal achievement, and lead to greater independence." To sum up that beautiful statement, it's a wonderful place for those who have mental or physical disabilities to be themselves, to have fun, and to learn how to live their every day lives. With that being said, every year the Center holds a prom for all the young adults that go there. Whether we liked it or not, prom was that coming-of-age night for everyone and it's an event that everyone should experience. Unfortunately, we all know prom is extremely (and ridiculously) expensive and having special needs won't help with the cost. That's why Rotaract is proud to help and fund raise for this prom so this magical night is able to become reality for everyone!
